OK, I'm freezing to death this morning. The winds over the summits of Mauna Loa and Muana Kea are blowing at up to 55-60 mph. This is strong enough wind to nearly blow me off of the lanai. Happy Tuesday, everyone.

Mstanley and Geezer, It is amazing how intense the wind is down here at just above sea level. I don't think I've ever experienced such intensity in the 4 years I've been here. It's pretty exciting but I have to tie up to the house to go outside. Some of my plants have blown over but I just left them down as I don't want to have them battered any longer. It is exciting to see the ocean with high surf and rough waves. This is definitely a "small crap warning" instead of just a small craft warning.

Oh, I live in flatland, so we get some of those high winds too, sometimes tornados which are like a lot stronger. They don't last long though fortunately....

Ahhh, but I'd love to see the ocean again, one of my back in the day adventures.

I love living close to the ocean, mstanley. It was so beautiful today as I drove to town with my daughter. Now the clouds have socked everything in. I think we might get some rain tonight.

I've only experienced high winds on flatland a couple of times and it was intense. My daughter lived in Oregon east of Portland where the east winds could be brutal. I like it here much better.

Anna that plant was a gift and I love its vibrant color. Chloe was investigating the sharp edge of the pineapple plant. She is a great plant inspector. Thanks.

Love your photos, js, but don't expect any sympathy from me!

I was picked up and taken to town by my daughter, Shelby. It wasn't quite as windy there so it was a relief. No sympathy for me, I've warmed up and the wind is very exciting. Thanks.

Hi MoonCrow, it is often difficult to get moon shots in the morning that are defined. I was lucky with this one although it isn't as sharp in detail as I would have liked. The fuller the moon the harder the shot but oh, how I love the moon. Thanks.

Thanks, Lebowsky! I had to pass on moons and sunsets the other night due to clouds and rain over the ocean, but today is a clear and sunny day so I'll try again tonight.

You're lucky and I'm socked in by some sub tropical mess that won't go away. Tonight is kind of special in the sky with the moon and planets too. Why don't you take a look at my article here, before ya go out, you might find it interesting.

Great article, Lebowsky. I recognize some of the configurations from my clear night skies. I kind of wish we didn't get street lights but I guess progress must happen. When I lived here in the 80's it was dark city and that was a major treat.

I sure love that plant with a red color leaf..unless that is the sunset bouncing off a green leaf! Looking forward to hearing.." how sweet it is ..when Stevie is ready." Cool shots, Js. Mahalo.

The red leaf plant is brilliantly red. It is stunning and is a member of the Anthurium family I believe, Angela. "Stevie" is just so close to blooming I cannot resist checking it a couple of times a day. I love the blue flowers pineapples display.
